Today, the American Security Project applauded the appointment of ASP board member General Lester L. Lyles, US Air Force (Ret.), to President Barack Obama’s Intelligence Advisory Board. The board, which will be co-chaired by ASP board member and former Senator Chuck Hagel and former Senator David Boren, is charged with providing President Obama with an independent source of advice about the effectiveness of the intelligence community.
ASP Launches Ad Campaign in Indiana Focusing on the Security Implications of Climate Change

The American Security Project (ASP) today announced that it will begin a paid advertisement campaign this week aimed at educating the public on the national security implications of climate change. The campaign will consist of radio and TV ads in the Indianapolis media market, and is part of a larger public education campaign recently launched by the ASP to educate the general public about how food shortages, scarcity of resources and migration will affect the stability of countries, incidents of terrorism and the overall security of the United States.

American Security Project (ASP) Senior Fellow Dr. Bernard Finel will join a team of climate change experts tomorrow at the “Climate Exchange” panel discussion at American University in Washington, DC.
Dr. Finel will discuss findings from his recent report detailing the security implications of climate change, including how food shortages, scarcity of resources and mass migration will impact the stability of countries and how these changes have already begun to contribute to increases in global conflict and terrorism.
